With their backs against the wall, Avon’s offense put together a clutch drive late, and a two-point conversion gave them a 22-21 win over a much-improved St. Ignatius squad. Fin Jerdonek got the scoring started when he took a screen pass 30 yards for a touchdown, reminding everyone across the area of his big-play ability. The Eagles will face another tough test this week when they host Pine-Richland (PA), who was last year’s WPIAL 5A runner-up.
