Westlake has half a dozen players six feet and taller in their rotation, and they’re all talented and complete ballplayers who helped the Demons defeat the Eagles at North Olmsted tonight, 75-53.  The game was close late into the second quarter as the Eagles actually led 25-23 before 21 straight Demons points over two quarters put the game out of reach in a hurry.

The Demons were led by their twin towers of Evan Hargett with 18 and Derek Occhipinti with 16 while Jackson Moore had 12 from deep and Andrew Wallenhorst with 7 off the bench.  Also scoring for the Demons was Ryan Turk with 6 while Jason Geagea had 5 and Sam Brucchieri with 4.  Finishing the scoring for the Demons was Graham Coleman with 3 while Hayden Purdy and Owen Reitenbach each had 2.

It was Senior Night for the Eagles and their senior tonight, Nick Tepper, finished with 8 as did junior Dylan Susan.  The hot hand tonight for the Eagles was Austin Limpert with 11, including 9 of those points from deep in the first half. Tyler Zatta picked up 8 as did Matthew Bloomfield while Juelz Santiago put in 6.  Both Donovan Martin and Jake Perkins each had 2.

The first quarter began slow as it was only 7-7 with 2 minutes left to play in it. That was when Austin Limpert hit his first big three of the night, to hand the Eagles a 10-7 lead.  From there however, the Demons scored 4 straight from Wallenhorst and Bucchieri. It was over yet though, as Susan took a fast break from coast to coast to hand the Eagles a 12-11 lead after one.  That quarter alone saw 4 lead changes.

The second quarter was one of runs, as the Demons opened it up with a commanding 8-0 run to get the 19-12 lead before it was stopped with a Susan 3 ball.  It was then that the Eagles came storming back a few minutes later when Limpert wrapped two more three balls around a Saintiago layup that handed the Eagles a 25-23 lead before the 6-0 Demon run to end it.  This gave the Demons a 29-25 lead at the break, that they never looked back on.

The 15-0 run to start the quarter, earning the Demons a 44-25 lead, pretty much put the game away for good.  By the time the third quarter was over, it was 55-34 Demons as they outscored the Eagles 26-9 in that 8-minute stretch.  Occhipinti outscored the Eagles on his own with 12 in the paint during that run.
