It may be cliché, but it is true, when it comes to the postseason tournament, go ahead and throw records out the window.  That was never more the case then today as North Canton Hoover took the North Ridgeville Rangers to the limit.  In the end, the Rangers used their calling cards of strong defense and senior leadership to pull out the 58-45 victory.  The score however, doesn’t even come close to explaining how tight this game was.  The Rangers only led 45-43 until air tight defense in the fourth quarter along with Brooke Lime and Grace Kingery taking control, led to the victory.

Grace Kingery had a night for the ages, as this senior wraps up her Ranger career, soak it in folks!  She finished with 31 points with 27 of them coming from deep, as she hit 9 from 3 ball land.  Brooke Lime used defense to create offense once again as she was lock down in the fourth and also scored 5 of her 16 points in the final 8 minutes.  Lime is a treat to watch, as is her on court senior partner, and best friend Maddie Eldridge who had 3 points.

Reyna Balderas continues to be a sharpshooter for the Rangers when she can create room, as she finished with 6 points.  Rounding out the scoring for North Ridgeville, was CC Bouman with 2. The Rangers hit 15 from long range, as that accounted for 45 of their 58 points.

The North Canton Hoover Lady Vikings were led by Aubrey Fisher who made her presence in the paint known with 17 points.  Fischer was a serious force in the near upset.  Another X Factor for the Lady Vikings was Brooklyn Stevens who finished with 10 while Lauren Moore put in 9.  The Lady Vikings scoring was finished by Olivia Yocum with 4 while Chayse Horning had 3 and Julia Frantz 2.

The Rangers used 6 three pointers to build a 18-8 lead after one, before things began to get wild in the second.  The Lady Vikings started it with their underclassmen to begin with a 5-0 run, cutting it to 18-13 when a Kingery deep ball stopped it.  Then, down 24-15 following a Lime three ball, the Lady Vikings exploded for a 9-0 run to tie it at 24.  A Kingery three halted the momentum for a moment before A Moore three pointer and a Fischer 2 gave them the 29-27 lead as the Viking crowd came unglued.  The atmosphere was electric.  A Maddie Eldrige three helped the Rangers rebound for a 33-31 halftime lead.

The third quarter was every bit as wild as the Lady Vikings begun with an 8-2 run to capture a 39-35 lead.  The Rangers got hot and rebounded for 10 straight as Kingery once again began to light it up from deep.  This led to a 45-39 lead for the Rangers.  The Lady Vikings sliced it back down t 45-43 after the end if the quarter.

As mentioned, the defense was lockdown for the Rangers in the fourth as they used a combined 13 from Lime and Kingery to put the Vikings away for good at 58-45.  North Ridgeville will now play Rocky River at home this Thursday to see who goes to Perry to compete for Districts on Super Tuesday and Championship Friday.
