USA Football Middle Schoolers Take Center Stage in Canton

First, the U14 teams of Courage and Valor took the field in a game of big plays.

After Wesley Wright (Peyton, Colorado) picked off a Valor pass, Brian Searcy (Bellwood, Illinois) went 41 yards to the house two plays later as Courage led 7-0 with one minute left in the first quarter.

Valor scored on the next drive and pulled with one after Ethan Bagwell (Maryville, Illinois) connected with Grayson Robinson (Reidsville, North Carolina) on a 64-yard TD pass with 8:41 left in the second quarter.

The second quarter saw three touchdowns score in the final 24 seconds of the half!

Courage jumped to a 14-6 lead on a six-yard TD pass from Shane Throgmartin (Buford, Georgia) to Rico Bond (St. Peters, Missouri). On the next play from scrimmage, Robinson took a double reverse play 75 yards to the end zone for Valor. Valor trailed 14-13 with eight seconds left before the half. Courage did their own razzle dazzle as Searcy delivered a dime throw to Christian Soltis (Freehold, New Jersey) for a 75 yard TD pass on a halfback pass as time expired. Courage led 21-13 at the halftime break.

Valor converted a 22 yard field goal with 5:38 to go in the third as they trimmed the lead to 21-16.

On the third play of the fourth quarter, Courage extended the lead to 28-16 on a 16 yard TD pass from Bjorn Jurgensen (Orlando, Florida) to Noah Taylor (Jacksonville Beach, Florida). Courage added a safety late in the game for a 30-16 final score.

The MVP for Team Courage was Searcy as he had the 75 yard TD pass and then 101 rushing yards on eight carries and one rushing TD. Robinson was the MVP for Team Valor as he had a 75 yard rushing TD and two catches for 67 yards with one TD catch.
