The Hudson Explorers girl’s lacrosse team won in an outstanding game against the Strongsville Mustangs with a final score of 17-7.

The Mustangs started off strong with a save from senior goalie, Karson Filut. After that save, the Mustangs used that momentum and pushed down the field resulting in a score by senior attack, Sophie Adanistsch. Adanistsch scored three points in total for the Mustangs. The Explorers responded quickly with a goal of their own. That goal was scored by sophomore attack, Claire Orazen. Orazen was a key player for the Explorers with a total of six points scored throughout the game.

The Explorers offense continued to dominate in the first quarter. The points just kept coming in. Shortly after the point scored by Orazen, sophomore midfielder for the Explorers, Ella Kennedy, scored her first goal of the game, and was assisted by junior midfielder, Molly Grady. Kennedy scored two goals in total.

By the end of the first half, the score was 9-2. The Explorers were still leading the game. The team continued to show up for one another, making great offensive plays to keep control of the ball.

Right at the start of the second half, the Explorers were back at it with another goal. However, the Mustangs managed to score, as well making it 10-3. That point for the Mustangs was scored by senior midfielder, Addie Owen-Kren. This point gave the Mustangs the momentum they needed to stay in the fight. They scored four times back-to-back in the third quarter. Among those goal scorers were senior midfielder, Lilly Drenski, and junior attack, Rayaan Muhammad. The score going into the fourth quarter was 11-6.

While the Hudson Explorers lost some of their power in the third, they somehow managed to get it all back going into the final quarter of the game. Lauren Brownley, senior midfielder for the Explorers, scored her first goal of the game. Katie England, junior midfielder for the Explorers, also scored two points for the team.

The Mustangs fought hard the whole game; however the Hudson Explorers just could not be stopped resulting in a 17-7 win against the Strongsville Mustangs.
