Pro Wrestling News, Notes & Reactions From A Wild Week

Many fans feel this has been one of the most important weeks in pro wrestling history and I would be inclined to agree. The underswell of fans started to show their faces once again this week as the ratings all over the dial proved.

As always, I have these hot takes as we look back and also look ahead to tonight’s WWE Hell In The Cell 2019 card.

Monday Night Raw – A little underwhelming with the lone thing standing out being the Ric Flair & Hulk Hogan segment. It seemed like they mailed this one in and were already looking ahead to the bigger moments of the week.

The Wednesday Night War – It was clear that AEW won the night as they did almost everything perfectly. The lone thing of AEW I would change is each interview segment resulting in ambush. Either do the promo or don’t. Other than that, they nailed it.

As for NXT, I thought it was extremely good as always. I’m very excited with Fin Balor being back there and it almost makes me wonder who else may show up in the coming weeks. Is Samoa Joe or Shinsuke Nakamura next?

Friday Night Smackdown – A really fun show with a great new set. Each match delivered and it was also done almost perfectly. I say “almost” because the ending was absolutely disgusting.

To have Kofi lose to Lesnar in 5 seconds was done in terrible taste. Not only that, but no one cares about Cain Velasquez. He looks awful and it was just pointless. You’re digging up an MMA rivalry from 9 years ago? Who cares?

Hell in the Cell only has 4 matches announced? – I’m not sure what to say here. The old WWF did this in 1997 with the Calgary Stampede and it was their best show of the year. So it can be pulled off. Look for a bunch of NXT and Crown Jewel promos.

I’d also look for a heel heavy card winning, with Banks, Bayley, Wyatt and Rowan & Harper coming out ahead. The real question is, will Bryan turn on Reigns? A safe bet is that he will.
