The Olmsted Falls Lady Bulldogs were able to outlast the Fremont Ross Little Giants this evening at Sandusky High School.  Lady Bulldogs senior guard Paige Kohler was simply the difference in this game and made all of the key plays down the stretch.

The Little Giants were coming off a huge upset victory over Whitehouse Anthony Wayne who was highly favored to move on and play Olmsted Falls.  The Little Giants go as their point guard Destiny Robinson is able to go.  Olmsted Falls were eliminated by Anthony Wayne in last year’s tournament so the Lady Bulldogs were not able to exact some revenge on them.

The first quarter was a back and forth affair and the teams went basket for basket with no one taking a clear advantage.  Paige Kohler led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 big points and Destiny Robinson led the Little Giants with 6 in the first quarter and the scoreboard showed a score of Olmsted Falls 13 Fremont Ross 10.

The second quarter showed the size differential for the Little Giants and they were able to impose their will inside the paint.  Destiny Robinson was able to dish out 5 assists in the quarter and the biggest benefactor was forward Janiah Holmes with 3 big baskets.  The halftime score was Fremont Ross 25 Olmsted Falls 20.

The halftime adjustment that Lady Bulldogs coach Jordan Eaton made on the defensive end was simply amazing.  Eaton said ,“I told the girls we are playing like we want to be done tonight and not play on Saturday.  I told them it all starts and ends with our defense and they made the necessary adjustments.”  The Bulldogs held their opponents to only one basket and 4 field goal attempts in the third quarter by moving to 1-3-1 zone which caused fits.  Paige Kohler again was able to find her offensive game spurred on by her defense to score 7 points in the period.  The score was Olmsted Falls 33 Fremont Ross 29 after 3 periods.

The fourth quarter was once again dominated by Paige Kohler by scoring 6 big free throws and two baskets and dished out 3 assists to let her team cruise to  48 to 37 victory.

The Lady Bulldogs move on to the Regional Final on Saturday at 1pm against the winner of the Holland Springfield/Rocky River Magnificat game to follow.
