Grading Every NXT World Champion In History

Seth Rollins
Reign July 2012 – December 2012
Grade – A

Reason – This is as easy as one can be. Rollins has had an incredible 8 year run on the main roster of WWE. From being a founding member of The Sheild, to holding each major championship multiple times.

He has truly done it all, from winning the MITB and Royal Rumble, to facing and beating some of the top names in WrestleMania History. Including the dramatic WrestleMania 31 cash in. Despite his recent storyline that is missing badly, Rollins has made the most out of an incredible main roster run.

Big E Langston
Reign Dec 2012 – May 2013
Grade – B

Reason – This was the toughest grade to hand out. You cannot argue with his success as part of The New Day the last 6 years. It has been incredible, but to think this performer who is so talented in the ring, and on the microphone is labeled a “Tag Team Wrestler” is a shame.

He proved in NXT just how good he could be in the singles ranks, and his background before he got into wrestling is incredible as well. He is a world class and world champion power lifter with agility and charisma and they have him as part of a tag team. It is what it is and he has done the most with it, we should be grateful when it comes to his success compared to others on the list.

Bo Dallas
Reign – May 2013 – Feb 2014
Grade – D

Reason – For a guy the WWE invested a 10-month title reign in as part of NXT, they did nothing with on the main roster. They gave Bray Wyatts brother countless gimmicks to try on the main roster, and he went nowhere with any of them. The only thing keeping him from a F, is his brief tag title run with Curtis Axel.

Adrian Neville / PAC
Reign – Feb 2014 – Dec 2014
Grade – C

Reason – The man gravity forgot was also invested in a long NXT Title run, nearly a year. He is loaded with talent and could have been the greatest cruiserweight in WWE history. Instead, they completely blew it. Neville is so damn good, and if they would have just let him get any kind of a push, he could have proven that.

Sadly, the best part of his cruiserweight run was a WrestleMania 33 dark match victory, defending his “205 Live” championship over Austin Aries. We can only hope he gets out of quarantine soon and once again makes massive waves in AEW.

Sami Zayn
Reign – Dec 2014 – Feb 2015
Grade – D

Reason – His brief two-month title run in NXT, the shortest ever should have told us the disastrous run in WWE he was about to have. A gifted IC belt victory over Braun Strowman and the gifted WrestleMania win over Daniel Bryan is the only thing keeping this grade from being an F. How appropriate that he finally gets a push then chooses to stay home. He is not relevant without Owens.

Kevin Owens
Reign – Feb 2015 – July 2015
Grade – A

Reason – This one is not as easy as it was with Rollins, but pretty darn close. He has held the Universal Championship and several other singles titles as well. He has been a top face, a top heel and proven he can draw any emotion needed from the fans. Owens is one of the very best in the game today. Best friends Owens and Sami Zayn took two different paths on the main roster.
