Walsh Jesuit rolls to 14-0 victory over rival St. Vincent-St. Mary

Kent, Ohio – Walsh Jesuit defeated rival St. Vincent St. Mary, 14-0, in five innings, at Schoonover Stadium at Kent State University.

The Warriors scored three runs (all with two outs in the first inning). Zach Halligan reached on an error, and two additional runs scored due to bases-loaded walks.

Senior infielder and University of Cincinnati baseball commit and Joey Canzoni hit a triple to the gap in right center, and scored on a wild pitch to make the score 4-0 in the top of the second inning.

Senior outfielder and Canisius commit Justin Bremner added a single to left field in the top of the third to increase the lead to 5-0.

They would tack on four more runs in the fourth. Alejandro Covas led off with a triple to left center. Joey Canzoni, John Simecek, and Zach Halligan each added RBI singles. Simecek later raced home on a successful double steal attempt.

Walsh Jesuit added five in the fifth for the final margin. Justin Bremner capped off the scoring with a two-run single to left field.

Senior pitcher and Xavier University baseball commit Ryan Piech had seven strikeouts in three innings of work. The Warrior pitching had ten strikeouts on the evening, only allowing a pair of hits. Joey Canzoni went 3-4 with a pair of triples and a pair of RBI. He also scored three times. Alejandro Covas (Youngstown State commit) went 2-3 with a triple and scored three runs. Justin Bremner went 2-3 with four runs batted in.

Walsh Jesuit (2-2) travels to Mentor Saturday afternoon.

Akron SVSM (2-4) travels to University School Saturday afternoon.
