Twinsburg defeats Chagrin Falls, 72-47, in non-conference tilt

Twinsburg, Ohio – The Twinsburg Tigers defeated visting Chagrin Falls, 72-47, Saturday afternoon.

Twinsburg led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. Anthony McCarthy had eight of his game-high 23 in the first.

They led by as much as 21-12 in the middle of the second quarter before Chagrin Falls rallied back. The Chagrin Tigers cut their deficit to 26-22 late in the first half, thanks to buckets by Henry Newell and James Kosmides.

But Brennan Hopp knocked down a three-pointer to end the half to increase the lead to 29-22 going into the half.

From there, Twinsburg capitalized on the momentum.

Back-to-back triples by David Coniglio pushed the lead to 13 in the third quarter. The Twinsburg Tigers would push their lead to 51-34 at the end of the third quarter. Adam Williams also had two treys in the stanza.

Twinsburg would pad their lead some thanks to an aggressive defense and an impressive offense.

Senior Anthony McCarthy had 23 points to lead all scorers. Junior David Coniglio had 12, and Brennan Hopp had 11.

Twinsburg improves to 11-1. They travel to rival Nordonia for a Suburban League contest Tuesday evening.

Chagrin Falls drops to 8-4. They host West Geauga in a CVC Chagrin conference matchup Tuesday evening.

They were led by junior James Kosmides’ 15, and junior Maxx Crandall’s 12.
