The NXT vs AEW Debate Is Answered

Top Face

Winner – NXT

Tommaso Ciampa, while not looking like Shawn Michaels, has an HBK following.  Men love him, women love him, kids love him and he is the face of NXT.

He comes across as a legit tough guy and has a one-man mentality, not relying on help which makes fans like him even more. He doesn’t need the pretty girl by his side, or the sob story behind him, he is a straight up ass kicker and the NXT nation loves him for it.

AEW is doing their best to make Jon Moxley that guy, but as long as Cody is around, and Kenny Omega for that matter, Moxley will never truly be the man.

Omega is ultra-popular as is Cody, but there is just something about a new company that you need for it to be a few years before you can really paint a clear picture of who is the face of the brand.

World Champ

Winner – AEW

This was hard for me to decide because I love Adam Cole and think his upside is huge.  I think he is a better wrestler than Jon Moxley, better on the microphone than Moley and all around better for the business than Moxley.  He is just plain better!

So why did I go with the AEW champ you ask?  Moxley as champion represents the entire AEW company.  Cole, does not when it comes to WWE.  Ask a WWE fan to tell you who their champion is and they are most likely going to say Drew McIntyre or Braun Strowman.

Ask a fan who hasn’t watched in a while, and they will more than likely say Brock Lesnar or John Cena.  No one is saying Adam Cole.

Adam Cole has had one great year long run and we have all been rewarded to be a part of it! However, it can’t compare with the career and the name value of Jon Moxley.

Jon brings The Shield Reputation with him and countless major titles from his WWE days. I hate to admit it, but the resume of Moxley is much longer and better.  Give Cole some more time however, and that could still change.
