BRECKSVILLE, OH – The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Lady Bees take home an 11-3 victory over the Archbishop Hoban Knights.
The first quarter started off strong with a nice offensive push from the Knights. Senior defenseman Jess Krejsa took control of the ball from the Lady Bees. Shortly after, the Knights were first up on the board with a goal scored by junior attack, Charlotte Gilbert. The Lady Bees responded quickly with good defense and scored as well making it a tie game. That point was scored by Bees sophomore midfielder, Anna Costin. Costin scored two points in total.
As the girls headed into the second quarter, the Lady Bees were up by one point. The momentum continued for the Bees as Sydney Gerber, junior on the Lady Bees, scored a goal at the start of the second quarter. The Lady Bees took control of the ball this quarter and had great offensive gameplay. Jayla Collard, a junior on the Lady Bees, managed to score her first point of the game. Collard scored a total of four points in total for the Lady Bees. Collard was a key player throughout the game and really dominated the field.
The Knights tried to combat the success of the Lady Bees and were successful with a goal scored by senior midfielder Alexandria Krohn. At the end of the second quarter the Bees were up 5-2.
After halftime, the Knights came out desperate for a shot at the win. Goalie for the Knights, junior Payton Wren, stayed strong in her efforts in saving a few shots on goal by the Lady Bees. Wren caught a good number of balls, but the Lady Bees just exploded in the second half.
The Knights managed to score again before the third quarter ended. That goal was scored by junior midfielder, Morgan Dobbins. Even though they tried, they could not keep up with the driving force that is the Lady Bees.
The start of the fourth quarter with a back-to-back fight for possession of the ball. The Lady Bees came out victoriously and scored six goals in the fourth quarter alone. One of those goal scorers was freshman midfielder, Loren Naso. Another goal scorer was junior midfielder, Cate Gutridge. Sophomore Peyton Coyne, attack for the Lady Bees, was able to score a point, as well. As much as the Knights were fighting for the win during the second half, it just wasn’t enough to come back and defeat the Lady Bees.
