AVON LAKE, OH – What a night! In a thrilling matchup on March 24th, 2026, the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs pulled off an amazing comeback to defeat the Avon Lake Shoregals 11-10 in overtime. After trailing for most of the game, the Bulldogs showed strength and composure late to complete the comeback and secure the unexpected win.
Avon Lake came out firing in the first quarter, jumping to an early 5-1 lead behind a strong offensive start. Their fast pace and ability to capitalize on early opponents put Olmsted Falls on its heels. The Shoregals continued to control the tempo in the second quarter, extending their lead to 7-5 heading into halftime.
Despite the early deficit, the Bulldogs began to settle in offensively and showed signs of life. Olmsted Falls found key scoring opportunities and started to chip away at the lead, keeping the game within reach.
The third quarter saw Avon Lake maintain its advantage, pushing the score to 10-7. With momentum still on their side, it looked like the Shoregals were on their way to closing out the game. But the Bulldogs thought otherwise.
Olmsted Falls turned up the intensity in the fourth quarter, putting together key possessions and defensive stops. Their tough battle paid off as they fought all the way back to tie the game at 10-10, forcing an unexpected overtime.
In overtime, the Bulldogs completed the comeback, scoring the game-winning goal to secure the 11-10 victory and cap off an impressive turnaround.
Many players stood out during this game. For Olmsted Falls, #26 Kaleigh Conte played a huge role in her team’s comeback win. She had a total of four goals, with her third one being an absolute highlight play. Just picture basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s skyhook shot, but in a lacrosse game. She was tonight’s player of the game because of her strong performance. #2 Sofia Caso (freshman) also played her heart out. She had two goals and also contributed two assists. #24 Kayley Schmucki had a night she will never forget, scoring her team’s game-winning goal.
On the Avon Lake side, #12 Jenna Pashayan played outstanding. She also had four total goals and had an assist. #1 Ava Ceo had an impressive night, tallying up three total goals, and did not stop running on the field. #22 Kendall Holley had an impressive night with two goals and an assist.
Ultimately, it was Olmsted Falls’ toughness and ability to execute under pressure that made the difference. After trailing by multiple goals, the Bulldogs refused to back down and completed a very impressive early-season comeback.
