Strongsville Mustangs stampede the Aurora Greenmen

We are here from the John M. Coyne Brooklyn Recreation Center for a first round matchup in the Baron Cup II. The winner of this game will move on to play the Western Reserve Academy Pioneers in a semi final matchup on Friday night. The Strongsville Mustangs come into the game with a record of 12 wins and 15 losses. The Aurora Greenmen come into the game with a record of 2 wins and 21 losses.

The beginning of the game was a back and forth tug of war with no team having a decided advantage. Mustangs forward Jackson Niedermeyer took a terrible penalty for tripping 1:07 into the game and it put the Aurora Greenmen on the power play. The power play was short lived as Aurora Greenmen forward Mateo Martinez was called for slashing 28 seconds after their power play began.

The scoring in the game began at the 6:58 mark of the first period when Strongsville Mustang forward Brady Eichmuller found the back of the net on a beautiful pass from forward Sebastian Hood. The goal made the score Mustangs 1 Greenmen 0. The Strongsville Mustangs were able to light the lamp once again at 8:45 when defensemen William Grozan scored on a slap shot off the assist of forward Ethan Warner. The score is now Mustangs 2 Greenmen 0.

The third goal of the game was again scored by the Mustangs. Forward Jacob Herout was the recipient of an amazing behind the back pass from forward Brady Eichmuller and Jacob made no mistake. The score is now Mustangs 3 Greenmen 0 12:35 into the game. The Aurora Greenmen took the puck from the face off and moved down the ice quickly and scored 10 seconds later.

Defenseman Will Pfiffner stole a pass and it was tipped by a Strongsville defenseman for an unassisted goal to make it Mustangs 3 Greenmen 1. The Mustangs were back at 75 seconds later with another goal scored by defensemen William Grozan off an assist by Forward Ethan Warner. The score was Mustangs 4 Greenmen 1 at the first intermission.

The second period started off with a bang 48 seconds in as defensemen William Grozan notched a hat trick off another assist by Ethan Warner. The score was now Mustangs 5 Greenmen 1. The next goal was scored by Mustang forward Ethan Warner who lit the lamp unassisted and made the score Mustangs 6 Greenmen 1. It became clear that the Strongsville Mustangs took the foot off the pedal and played very defensive hockey the rest of the way/

The final score was Mustangs 6 Greenmen 1.
