River Quarterback Carter Atwater Wins Jenny’s Old Fashioned Popcorn Player of the Week 7

There were many fine performances this past weekend in Ohio High School Football but perhaps none finer than River quarterback Carter Atwater.  This young man led the Pirates into battle against a red-hot North Olmsted Eagles squad who also shared a 3-0 record in the CWC coming into Friday night.  It was the battle for first place and a possibly to look at who would win the conference ultimately.

With the lights on the brightest, young Carter shined with an amazing first half of a work that had the game over by halftime.  Atwater threw for 210 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 14 attempts.  He could have thrown for over 400 yards, and 8 touchdowns had he played an entire game, he was that hot.   The Pirates went on to win 42-0 without Atwater taking a single second half snap.

This latest surge of star power from Atwater was just the next step in what has been an amazing season for him.  As we head into Week 8, Atwater has the Pirates off to a 7-0 start with 27 touchdown passes and nearly 1900 total passing yards.

Atwater is not only a fine athlete on the field but also comes from an outstanding family and truly embodies the mental and personality skills that make for great leaders.  Atwater makes the best of the talent around him and has the Pirates in early talks for a run at the OHSAA Division IV State Championship.

Atwater and the Pirates will look to stay hot this coming Thursday night as they host Westlake in the battle for the Westwood Cup.
