Cleveland, Ohio – Thanks to a nine-run first inning frame, the Ravenna Ravens routed host John Hay, 21-0, at Historic League Park Saturday afternoon.
Ravenna loaded the bases at the top of the first, and junior Emmanuel Miller hit a double to center field. This brought in two runs and put the Ravens up 2-0.
Two more runners would score on wild pitches to increase the lead to 4-0. Nate Joslyn followed up with a two-run single, increasing the lead to 6-0.
Leadoff hitter Marcus Gibson followed up with a single of his own to increase the lead to 8-0, and the Ravens added one more run in the frame.
Miller added two more RBI hits (a single in the second, and a double in the third), for a total of five RBI on the game.
Ravenna added six runs in the second and third innings for the final margin. They had three different pitchers contribute to the shutout Saturday. Senior Zach Scibelli, junior Landon Workman, and junior Ben Hatcher held the Hornets scoreless. Hatcher had four strikeouts in two innings of work.
