North Olmsted Eagles Score 2 in the 9th For Thrilling Comeback Win Over Brookside

Jocelyn Suckart collected three hits in five at bats, as North Olmsted Varsity Eagles defeated Brookside Varsity Cardinal 9-7 on Monday. Suckart singled in the first inning, singled in the seventh inning, and singled in the ninth inning.

North Olmsted Varsity Eagles were the first to get on the board in the first when Layla Salameh grounded out, scoring Suckart.

A single by Morgan Outrich, and an error helped North Olmsted Varsity Eagles extend their early lead in the second 3-0.

Brookside Varsity Cardinal captured the lead, 6-4, in the bottom of the fifth when Leann Clark drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

In the top of the 7th, senior, Kassie Bub hit a line drive to right field to start off the inning. Freshman, Audrey Schneid pushed the first run of the inning across with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring D’Alessandro. Layla Salameh scored on a double by Elena Scott to tie the game.

In the top of the ninth inning, Suckart led off the inning with a single. Salameh sacrificed bunted and reached on an error, scoring Suckart. Elena Scott then singled, scoring Salameh to bring the Eagles up by 2 runs.

Jenna Christner opened the game for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles. They surrendered five hits and seven runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking four.

Markie-Ann Aliff opened the game for Brookside Varsity Cardinal. The right-handed pitcher gave up nine hits and nine runs (four earned) over nine innings, striking out six and walking none.

Scott, who took the mound in the bottom of the 7th, through three innings of zero-run ball for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles in relief. The righty surrendered zero hits, striking out four and walking none.

Scott and Suckart each collected three hits for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles. Salameh and Scott each drove in two runs for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles. Lena Costello and Suckart each stole multiple bases for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles. North Olmsted Varsity Eagles ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game.

Clark went 1-for-4 at the plate as the shortstop led the team with two runs batted in. Kaylynn Hannan, Jazelle Fraize, Clark, Aryanna Rivera, and Aliff each collected one hit for Brookside Varsity Cardinal. Brookside Varsity Cardinal ran wild on the base paths, accumulating four stolen bases for the game.

Next up for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles is a game at Lakewood on Tuesday.
