In today’s health conscience and budget focused world, the choice of fast food is not always the first or best option, even for families on the go. For many, it is a once a week treat, maybe saved for a Friday night, or following your child’s sporting event. For some, they just want to grab something tasty and quick. We know that some options can go south quickly, and you suddenly find yourself rolling out of a drive through with something you could have made at home. However, as I’ve stated before, sometimes, you just want to treat yourself.
It is in that spirit that I want to give a giant Kudos to the McDonalds in Rocky River located at 21675 Center Ridge Rd, Rocky River, OH 44116. They are consistently a home run for my family, and many others over the years. As a father of two young daughters ages 7 and 10 who both play sports and also get good grades, every now and again we ask them a place they want to go for a celebratory dinner, and time and time again, Westwood McDonald’s in Rocky River is their choice.
I have several stories I can tell, and reasons I can list, but as we have all learned, people do not like to click through pages, their thumbs may get sore…..
With that knowledge I will limit them and place them all on one page. I mean, we don’t want those “Facebook Keyboard Warriors” getting too upset.
17 Cars Deep, they get the job done, on time, every time!
I’ll never forget one Friday Night heading home from covering a football game when I needed to eat because I hadn’t since early that morning and it was now 10pm. I made the choice to go in the Taco Bell Line because it was only 1 car deep and the McDonald’s was 17 deep. I recall counting and being amazed at how many people were headed towards the golden arches in the next parking lot over. I soon found out why as 10 minutes passed and every car in the McDonald’s line was served and puled out with food. Meanwhile, my line never moved and I was stuck as 8 cars rolled up behind me so I couldn’t go anywhere. I was astonished at how quick McDonald’s worked their line. Meanwhile I was stuck in purgatory.
At one point, two Taco Bell workers got into an argument that spilled out into the parking lot, so they just closed the store and turned off the drive though lights. Eventually, the car in front of me caught the hint and pulled away, so I was also free to go.
Excellent Customer Service
They don’t force you to order from a Kiosk. Despite the fact that the Kiosk is the main option, if you’re not comfortable they always have someone there to help you at the counter and take your order, “the old fashioned way”. That one small touch can go a long way!
Not only that, but they actually give you a number and then bring the food out to you when you dine in! That my friends, is awesome! For a father of two, it is not always easy to keep everything straight and carry everything while pouring your kids drinks, etc. It is not a big deal now, but when they were super young, it could be. Anyone with a toddler knows what I mean. So this one small touch, goes a long way!
Clean Dining Area
They constantly have someone wiping down tables and also keeping the condiment area well stocked and clean. A great job!
Kindness
They are nice! Once we were there after my eldest daughter got a straight A report card, and when we told the worker why we where there, they gave both my daughters free ice cream cones. You would never receive that treatment if you run South of the Border only a few feet away in the parking lot…..
Accurate Hours of Operation
They stay open and actually work the hours advertised to be open! You would think that should be common sense right? Apparently not everywhere…. Also, you can pay with cash, credit card or on line orders. Not whatever they feel like that day.
Fast Internet
Every now and then I get the luxury of working from home, and one day last summer my internet went out. I was stuck and needed to file a story. McDonald’s at Westwood allowed me to bring my laptop up there and get my work done, while they gave both of my daughters free hot fudge sundaes. Again, kindness!
In conclusion
These are just a few of many examples why in a day and age of extreme self entitlement and horrendous customer service, factors such as kindness, work ethic and professionalism mean everything. McDonald’s doesn’t need this good review to survive, they will more than likely never see it, but it needed to be said as we continue to live in a day and age when you should never take customer service for granted. ( sadly)
