John Carroll leaned on their ground game and a game changing defensive score to beat Treasure Coast 21-14, ending the Titans five-game win streak when a late onside kick sailed out of bounds. The Rams improved to 6-2, while Treasure Coast fell to 5-3.
Treasure Coast struck first, and it took only one play. Napoleon Johnson jumped a pass on the opening snap and returned it for a pick six, putting the Titans up 7-0 before the Rams offense had settled in.
John Carroll answered. Chance Sullivan found KJ Davis for a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7.
The Rams took control with the run. They put together a 90-yard drive made up entirely of rushing plays, capped by a 10-yard touchdown run from Felix Jackson for a 14-7 lead. Joshua Dean then pushed the margin to 21-7 with a 67-yard scoop and score.
Both teams leaned heavily on the run all night, and Treasure Coast never found much rhythm after falling behind. In the middle of the fourth quarter, Jordan Smith dropped a wide-open touchdown that could have tightened the game for Treasure Coast.
The Titans did get one more score. Aiden Pierre punched in a 4-yard touchdown run with 25 seconds on the clock to cut the deficit to 21-14. Treasure Coast tried an onside kick to keep their hopes alive, but it went out of bounds, and the Rams took over to seal the win.
Player of the Game: Felix Jackson, RB, John Carroll
Jackson was the engine of the Rams offense. He carried the ball 23 times for 143 yards and a touchdown, including the 10-yard score that finished off the 90-yard, all-rushing drive. His workload wore down the Titans defense and kept John Carroll in control after the early deficit.
