2023-2024 Kee On Sports MVP
Grace Kingery of North Ridgeville
The hype began in 8th grade for young Grace, and it never stopped, it just became reality! I’ve never seen a kid get better every time she touched the court, like Grace did. Not just this season, but every game since her freshman year. It didn’t matter the defense coming at her, she found a way to score. I think what impressed me the most about Grace this past year was the giant leap she made on defense as well.
Blocking shots, rebounding, hitting foul shouts, hitting three pointers from NBA range, she was a multi-threat that kept the Rangers in every single game. She is tough too, don’t let a tall lanky frame fool you, this “kid” has the heart of a warrior!
Grace is a leader; she plays the game with an unmatched passion and it is infectious to her teammates which are the most unselfish group of players I’ve ever seen. This has allowed Kingery to break every scoring record ever set in North Ridgeville girls basketball and become one of the top scorers in Lorain County history.
I spoke with North Ridgeville head coach Amy Esser, who had this to say about her experience coaching Grace, “Grace had a record-breaking season and career. There is no one more deserving. Her accomplishments on the court are unmatched and I’m extremely proud of her and proud to be her coach. She is going to do amazing things at Ball State University”.
As coach mentioned, Kingery is headed to Ball State in the Fall to continue her Division One basketball career at the NCAA level. Grace is a humble kid, who will do well. She had a lot of pressure on her since her freshman year and never shied away from it. It has been my pleasure to cover her and I wish her nothing but the best. Congrats Grace!
