High School Girls Basketball Year End Awards 2024

Thank you Coaches

Each year in mid to late October when I sit down and figure out if I’m going to cover hockey that coming winter instead of basketball, the decision becomes tougher and tougher.  This year, I was almost convinced I was going to cover hockey instead.  I didn’t want the drama that sometimes comes with Girls Basketball, and it is getting harder and harder to find sponsors for girls basketball because of it.  However, and quite frankly, a few things brought me back, and one of those things was watching the coaches coach.

So many coaches have been so good to my daughter Maggie, and that means everything to me.  Just a few that immediately come to mind are Coach Jamey Pfahl of Rocky River, Coach Amy Esser of North Ridgeville, Coach Danny Gallagher of Magnificat, Coach Turpin and coach Johnson (boys coach) of North Olmsted and several others.  How about the passion of Lauren Heldt in Bay, Coach Maggie Ferando in Avon or the ring leadership of Coach Eaton in Olmsted Falls who just keeps getting the best out of everyone he comes into contact with.  Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to the coaches who make my life 10x easier than it needs to be.  Thank you and God Bless each one of you that gives up your time to help these impressionable young adults.

If you keep coaching, I will keep showing up.
