Freshman of the Year
Sidney Butera of Strongsville

Not since the Paige Kohler class of 2019-2020, did we see a class like this begin their high school careers. I wrote about it during the pre-season, and then this group went out and shined! Butera was at the top of that class and proved it this season. What a dynamic player, and the fact that she is only a freshman, is downright scary!
She is as polished as a 4-year starting senior, and as dangerous as you’re going to find at any level of High School Sports. Butera, even at just 14 years old, was a leader and someone her teammates could rally behind. A GCC title in the books already, only God knows what is next for this superstar.
Strongsville Head coach Madyson Fogle had this to say, “Sidney is a very special player. Her work ethic and passion for the game has shaped her into the player she is and feeds off to her teammates and makes her teammates better. She has so much poise and composure as a freshman for taking on the point guard role for us this season. She is every coach’s dream player and will continue to grow and improve in the next three seasons. We are so blessed and lucky to have her apart of our program.”
Also, honorable mentions in this class include Regan Braaten of Berea-Midpark, Liz Lang of Rocky River, Sophia Spade of Padua and Aliana Pagan of Avon.
