Cold Pizza With Vince McKee

Introducing “Cold Pizza” with Vince McKee. This will be our newest Sunday night column. The thought behind the name “Cold Pizza”, is simple. A lot of people hate cooking on Sunday nights because they are exhausted from the weekend, so they reach in the back of the fridge for a quick meal.

What better leftover is there than cold pizza? Thus, Sunday night Cold Pizza with Vince McKee? I don’t know, I like it! My wife hates it, but we will go with it anyway.

And yes,,, yes I know quite well that ESPN had a show from 2003-2007 with the same name.  I’m very well aware of that fact.  If the producers of ESPN want to reach out to us about a show that hasn’t been on air in 12 years, they are more than welcome too.  It would take me 2 seconds to change the name to “Colder Pizza” if we have too.

The concept of this article is your standard “weekend recap” type routine, however with a slight twist. Instead of just reporting what happened in each major and minor sport, I thought it would be fun to have some commentary with it as well. Picture a news related article mixed with a hot take piece, thus, Cold Pizza with Vince McKee! Enjoy sports fans.

The Indians score 5 runs in dropping 2 of 3 to the Twins.

Are you really surprised? The lineup is depleted, lacks power and it was cold. Trust me, I’m not one to make excuses for this team. I’m as angry with ownership as everyone else as I cannot understand why you wouldn’t spend like crazy in the short window you still have Kluber, Frankie and Bauer. This owner however simply doesn’t care.

All that being said, two of the three starting pitchers looked incredible and you would have to believe the bats will wake up soon. I never thought I would look forward to the return of Jason Kipnis, but here we are.

The home opener is tomorrow and once again the Indians will try to wow you with new food, coffee carts and glitz and glamor in an effort to distract you from the subpar product on the field. Don’t let them do it. If you are one of those fans freezing your butt off in the stands, let ownership hear it.

The Browns will hold a press conference Monday at 1pm to introduce OBJ

I love the fact they are doing this on opening day. This is a football town, don’t kid yourself. The Indians had their chance to hold our interest, and they cheaped out. That simple. A healthy OBJ can be a serious game changer and make the Browns a legit contender for the division title.

With an absolute gamer like Baker Mayfield ready to throw him the ball, lord only knows how far this team may go.

Is this the best NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament ever?

What an incredible tournament this has been! These last two rounds have been amazing and I don’t anticipate the Final Four being any different. All the blue bloods are gone, Kansas, UNC and Kentucky at the hands of Auburn, and Duke toppled by Michigan St.

Virginia, one year following the epic loss to a 16th seed for the first time in history, has bounced back to earn this trip to the Final Four. Auburn with Bruce Pearl, the once disgraced Tennessee coach is on the cusp of sweet redemption.

Who doesn’t love Tom Izzo of Michigan State? Then you have Texas Tech, kind of hard to call a 3 seed an underdog, but they hold that role by default.

People were dumb enough to complain that the first two rounds were too chalk, and there wasn’t any buzzer beaters, these last two rounds have more than made up for it!

I cannot remember the last time I’ve had so much fun watching college basketball. People love upsets, but it is just a better tournament when the best teams are playing when it counts.

The World of MMA has a triple header

This past weekend, the UFC, One Championship and Bellator all put on shows. A usual, the UFC show from Philly took home the majority of the headlines. I must say that Josh Emmett continues to be one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC Featherweight Division. With his latest KO, an impressive one after a 13-month layoff over Michael Johnson. The UFC rankings board needs to give him a boost.

Also looking impressive on the card was Justin Gaethje with a dominant knockout of Edson Barboza less then 3 minutes into their main event bout. Gaethje looks fully recovered from those back to back losses in late 2017 and early 2018 to Dustin Poirier and Eddie Alvarez.

There is no denying how good Gaethje can be. He is improved his UFC record to 3-2, with 3 KO’s. He is also now 20-3 overall and has to be seen as a legit threat to the UFC Lightweight Championship. Look for him to get a title shot soon.

David Branch looked like he would rather be anywhere else then a cage in his quick submission defeat at the hands of Jack Hermansson. Branch has now lost 3 of 4 and may be headed back to WSOF, the organization where he met with his most success.

The UFC has to be happy about Michele Waterson continuing to win. She is widely regarded as the hottest woman in MMA history, and for good reason! After her decision win last night over Karolina Kowalkiewicz, she has now beaten several top names. Big names such as Felice Herrig, Cortney Casey and Paige VanZant. The sky is the limit for Waterson as he future and also fanbase, appears to be on the rise.

Bellator 219 fell flat with a main card that saw 3 of their 4 fights go to lopsided decisions. ONE Championship Fighting did slightly better as Demetrius Johnson won is debut. Eddie Alvarez however, looked a little punk drunk.

The WWE has a week left to make WrestleMania watchable.

This WrestleMania is shaping up to be an epic fail, can surprise appearances by John Cena and The Undertaker fix it? Time will tell, but the WWE is running out of time to make this worth purchasing.

That’s it for now, thanks for reading!
