Cleveland Browns: Former Browns OT Desmond Harrison Released By Cardinals Following Assault and Strangulation Charges

Desmond Harrison has been issued a felony arrest warrant by police in Greensboro, N.C. Wednesday morning after being charged with person by strangulation and assault on a female by a male, according to Brent Sobleski.

Within an hour after hearing the news, the Arizona Cardinals released Harrison, who went undrafted in the 2018 NFL draft. According to police spokesman Ron Glenn, a report against Harrison was filed Tuesday night with no clear evidence on where the incident may have occurred at. The relationship between the girl and Harrison is unknown at the time.

Harrison spent the first eight games of last season playing and starting at left tackle for the Cleveland Browns. Following week eight, he got benched for the second half of the season and was picked up off waivers June 6 by the Cardinals. Signs of missing team meetings and being unreliable to some of the coaches in Cleveland made his time with the Browns cut short.

Harrison has had his name in the spotlight during his college days at the University of Texas. He was suspended multiple times due to off the field issues that would eventually end his playing days with the Longhorns. He later continued playing football at West Georgia for his junior and senior seasons before going undrafted in 2018.

Upon his arrival in Arizona, the 25-year-old pledged to move on from his previous instances off the field and become more dependable with his new team.

“I’ll just show that with my actions,” Harrison said. “My guys are going to hold me accountable, as well as the coaches.”

With Harrison’s release, the Cardinals have one open roster spot with training camp set to start July 24 at State Farm Stadium.
