Avon Lake Takes Control in Tennis Win Over Berea-Midpark

AVON LAKE, OH – The Berea-Midpark Titans went on the road to take on the Avon Lake Shoremen, but it ended up being a tough day overall. The Shoremen came away with the win after taking control early and never really letting up.

Avon Lake was able to sweep all three singles points, as they controlled those matches from start to finish. In the first singles, Lexi Hall from Berea-Midpark went up against Jack Tobin. Tobin controlled the match from the start, winning 6-0, 6-0. Second singles was similar to the first singles. Dino Agelidakis went up against Caleb Johnson, who is a senior at Avon Lake. Johnson also won the match 6-0, 6-0.

The third singles point ended in a forfeit, which gave the Shoremen another point and quickly put Berea in trouble.

In first doubles, Daler Rustamov and Elias Koenig went up against Brody and Carter Athey, senior twins from Avon Lake. That match was a little more competitive, but Avon Lake still managed to stay in control and pick up the 6-0, 6-1 win.

Second doubles wrapped things up, with Joyce Richards and Elliot Barbeck of the Titans taking on Nico Lustri and Jacob Mars from Avon Lake. Avon Lake stayed consistent and finished strong, winning 6-0, 6-0 to close out the match.

The Titans kept competing and never really stopped battling, especially in doubles play. There were moments where they put together solid points and tried to shift some momentum back their way, but Avon Lake always seemed to have an answer.

Overall, it was one of those matches where Avon Lake just came out strong across the board. They were consistent, didn’t make many mistakes, and kept the pressure on the entire time. For the Titans, it was tough to find any rhythm, and that made it hard to build any momentum as the match went on.
