The Jackson Polar Bears defeat the Magnificat Blue Streaks 13-2

Prior to the start of the game, the Polar Bears honored their one, and only senior, Madi Veno. Veno plays centerfield for the Polar Bears and has been playing on varsity since her freshman year.

She had a great game today following the accolades. Veno hit a triple and managed to score one run for the Polar Bears.

The first inning was electric. Starting pitcher for the Polar Bears was junior Addy Essig. Essig pitched a great game, with five strikeouts total. Essig was a clear key player for the Polar Bears and aided in the victory.

Magnificat struggled in the first inning getting anyone on base. At bat, the team could not seem to find a rhythm. Abby Seder, sophomore third baseman for the Polar Bears, stopped what little momentum the Blue Streaks had by catching not one, but two grounders to secure two outs right at the top of the first.

The Polar Bears took complete control of the game shortly after their first batter scored a home run, putting the Polar Bears up on the board first. That run was scored by Remi Grooms, a sophomore second baseman for the Polar Bears.

By the end of the first inning, the Polar Bears scored six runs. Gabbi Williamson, junior right-fielder, and Madi McGuire, junior first baseman, were amongst the run scorers. Williamson scored two runs total. Kendall Adams, freshman pitcher and second baseman, scored a home run at the bottom of the inning.

The Blue Streaks went into the second inning with more fire than the last. Ella Restifo, sophomore pitcher for the Blue Streaks, had a great hit out to left field giving the Blue Streaks some momentum. However, the ball was caught by Jackson resulting in an unfortunate out for the team.

The next few innings were big for the Polar Bears. By the top of the third, the Polar Bears managed to score two more times widening their lead to 8-0.

The Blue Streaks did not give up. Cailey Lentz, sophomore for the Blue Streaks, scored her first run of the game, giving the Blue Streaks more than a goose egg on the board. This gave the Blue Streaks a nice push going into the rest of the inning. Unfortunately, the Polar Bears did not let this stop them from finishing out the game strong with a 13-2 victory in commanding fashion.

Other notable point scorers from the game; for the Polar Bears, Gabby Hoy, sophomore centerfielder, and freshman catcher Olivia Veno. For the Blue Streaks, outfielder Kayliana Travis.
