PARMA, OH – The Shaker Heights Raiders put together a strong all-around performance on April 9th, 2026, defeating the Padua Bruins 13-8 in a game where they stayed in control for most of the night.

Shaker Heights came out with energy right away, jumping to a 5-2 lead in the first quarter. Their offense was clicking early, moving the ball well and finding open looks that led to quick goals. There were times Padua answered back, but the Raiders were able to keep the pressure on and stay ahead.

The second quarter tightened up as the Bruins started to settle in. Padua found more rhythm offensively and managed to get the score close, but Shaker Heights still had a 7-6 lead heading into halftime. The second quarter was a competitive stretch for both teams, as they both traded goals and battled on defense.

Coming out of halftime, the Raiders stepped it up again. They created separation in the third quarter, outscoring Padua and extending the lead to 11-7. Their ability to capitalize on possessions and limit mistakes made a big difference in the quarter. This helped them take control heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Shaker Heights stayed composed and didn’t let Padua make a serious push. The Bruins managed to add one more goal, but the Raiders answered and closed things out to secure the 13-8 win.

Many players made big contributions for Shaker Heights. #10 Sarah Galin had a huge night. She led the team with six goals and consistently found ways to get open and finish. She was tonight’s player of the game. #5 Katherine Adams also stepped up in a big way, scoring three goals and playing a key role in building early momentum. #18 Roxy Wade added two goals, while #4 Sloan Fenton and #32 Addie Huff each had a goal, showing just how balanced the scoring was tonight.

On the Padua side, multiple players contributed offensively as they tried to stay within reach. #25 Isabella Geffert had three total goals, carrying the offensive load for Padua. #19 Mariana Bryan had two goals on the night, while #7 Ella Rucinski, #9 Peyton Duke, and #11 Smilla Cohagan all had a goal each. The Bruins showed flashes throughout the game, especially in the second quarter, but struggled to keep up with Shaker Heights’ pace over four quarters.

On the defensive end, the Raiders did a good job limiting opportunities and forcing tough possessions. Even when Padua made runs, Shaker Heights responded quickly and didn’t allow the game to swing too far in Padua’s favor.

In the end, it was Shaker Heights’ consistency and ability to make plays in key moments that made the difference. Having control of the game early and pulling away in the second half, the Raiders secured the 13-8 win. This win will help them build momentum as the season goes on.
