The Big Ten football season FINALLY kicks off on Friday with the Fighting Illini traveling to Camp Randall in search of an upset over the 14th ranked Badgers. Then on Saturday night, the biggest game of week will be played when #21 Minnesota hosts #18 Michigan. The Big Ten game with the largest storyline though, is the one taking place in Columbus.
Over the summer, Nebraska and Ohio State led the charge in an effort to bring Big Ten football back this fall. The efforts put forth by the coaching staffs, players, medical teams and school officials of these two schools is a large part in why we get to enjoy the game this Saturday.
The fight this summer forged a much deeper and stronger connection between Ohio State and Nebraska. A friendship has been formed. Despite the newfound respect and appreciation for each other’s programs, that gets put to the side on Saturday at noon. It’s time for war.
Across the landscape of college football this season, Clemson and Alabama have been two of the only programs not to falter early. The door is wide open for Ohio State to hit the ground running and come December, be included in the College Football Playoff.
