WWE WrestleMania Top Five: Pro Athletes Who Wrestled Or Interfered

The pomp, the pageantry, the stars! All part of WrestleMania on nearly a yearly basis.  Fans just know that the WWE will bring in whomever in can get to create even more of a pop culture feeling to it.

Typically it is a big musical act that gets people talking, but then few remember afterwards.  It is when the stars of pop culture, the big screen, the cage and the sports world step into the squared circle, that become legendary moments!

Here below, are the five that stick out to us the most.

  1. WrestleMania XIV: Mike Tyson as special guest referee.

At the time, he was still seen as the baddest man on the planet. Feared by just about everyone but Stone Cold Steve Austin, the self-professed toughest SOB walking.  Put the two of them together and it was magic.  It would be Tyson turning on DX to raise Austin’s hand and kick off the Stone-Cold Era.

2. WrestleMania XI: Lawrence Taylor vs Bam Bam Bigelow

An NFL Hall Of Famer, stepped in the ring with a professional wrestler and won. Bigelow carried Taylor for 11 solid minutes and for that effort alone, should be in the WWE Hall of Fame.  Couple that with the fact that this was the main event, and oh my was it memorable for all the right reasons!

3. WrestleMania 34: Ronda Rousey makes her wrestling debut

Ok, everyone thought this would be a one-time thing and she would look way out of her element. Throw in HHH and Kurt Angle who are 10 years past their prime, and it had disaster written all over it.

Instead, fans got an incredible match packed with drama and suspense.  Rousey proved to be a natural and wowed the crowd with her incredible skill set and athletic ability.  Excellent match!

4. WrestleMania: Mr. T teams up with Hulk Hogan to take on Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mr. Wonderful.

This was the first gigantic gamble the McMahon family ever took, and it paid off big time! This main event packed the house, and also sold out closed circuit television buys all over the world! Mr. T looked the part and it was an iconic moment when he went nose to nose with Piper.

5. WrestleMania 24: Floyd “Money Mayweather” knocks out The Big Show.

Do I really need to write anything at all? The headline pretty much sums that up to perfection.

Honorable mention

WrestleMania 2 NFL Battle Royal

WrestleMania XIV Kane Tombstones Pete Rose

WrestleMania XV Butterbean knocks out Bart Gunn

WrestleMania 21 Aki Bono sumo wrestles The Big Show
