by WWE SummerSlam Night Two had no shortage of cool and emotional moments. Here are just a few of the very best.
Kevin Owens returned from a 19 plus month absence after badly hurting his next in the build up to WWE WrestleMania 41. The emotion was off the charts as Nick Aldis announced and then inserted him into the nights opening match. As bummed as I was to see Fin Balor robbed again of a push at the top, a KO versus CM Punk feud makes a ton of sense and was predicted by Pro Wrestling Analyst Mike Roders months ago.
While Baron Corbin being back for three weeks and suddenly winning the United States title while guys like Draganov, Carmelo Hayes and Johnny Gargano are wasting away makes little sense, the emergence of Chelsea Green winning the Women’s Intermin World Championship makes all the sense in the world. It felt great to watch Chelsea win as she is the epitome of hard work and perseverance paying off.
Also, while the Danhausen gimmick is getting old fast, it was Chad Gable and Penta putting on a wrestling clinic as we hoped with Gable winning in the end. Gable, like Green, has endured years of silly gimmicks and bad booking to rise up and prove his worth. What an amazing moment tonight to see him realize his dream and get to celebrate with his family.
Finally, the WWE saved the best for last with an amazing main event clash between WWE World Champion Roman Reigns and former SHIELD teammate Seth Rollins. The 33 minute saga was brilliant as both men brought everything they had with a barn burner of a match in which Reigns came out on top in the end for the first time ever in their years long feud. Both men made it clear that Dean Ambrose ( Jon Moxley ) was simply an overthought in the SHIELD.
A good night two capped off by a great main event!
Loved KO coming back but did not love Balor or Zayn not winning.
Hated Baron Corbin winning but hopeful this means the end of an asinine Lil Shaughty or whatever that rapper guy’s name is.
Green and Gable got their moments while Roman and Seth Rollins capped off the biggest party of the Summer perfectly.
