Why Basketball Has Always Been More Than Just A Game to Me

When people ask me about what I enjoy doing the most, my answer has always been basketball. I have been playing for as long as I can remember, and over the years, it has become much more than just a sport to me. It has shaped who I am today, as well as taught me valuable life lessons and introduced me to some of the best people in my life.

Growing up, basketball was something my family and I always enjoyed together. From my mom playing college basketball at West Liberty University, to teaching me the fundamentals of basketball in the driveway. It created an inseparable bond, whether that was watching games, playing outside, or traveling to tournaments, and some of my favorite memories came from being around the game. As I got older, I realized I loved the challenge of constantly improving and getting better, as well as competing with my teammates.

Playing college basketball has taught me much more than how to play the game. It has shown me the importance of discipline, time management, and being organized. I have had to work through injuries and setbacks, but those experiences have helped me become stronger on and off the court. The relationships I have built through basketball are what I value the most. My teammates have become some of my closest friends, and being part of a team has taught me how important trust and communication are.

Basketball has also inspired my future career goals. As a Business Administration and Sports Management Major, I hope to work in sports after graduation. No matter where life takes me, basketball will always be a part of who I am today. All the lessons, friendships, and memories I have gained through this sport are something I will forever be grateful for.
