It is now official, and on behalf of everyone with Kee On Sports, we’d like to congratulate Cory Rojeck on accepting the role as Assistant Principal at Westlake High School. This of course means, due to school district policy, coach Rojeck can no longer be the varsity head coach of girls basketball where his teams went 38-26 in three years at the helm.
We had a tremendous time covering Coach Rojeck led teams since he took over in the Spring over 2020, for Karen Swanson-Haan who moved on to St. Joes. Rojeck came in a with a lot of pressure on his shoulders, had to deal with a pandemic and still produced quality results year in, and year out. It didn’t matter if it was a pandemic, graduation, injuries, etc,, he made it work and leaves behind a tremendous program.
A native of Ohio, Coach came back to the Cleveland area from Millennium High School in Goodyear, Arizona where his 2018-19 and 2019-20 squads won the Arizona High School 5A state championships. He was the coach there for 11 years and in 9 of those years his teams won 20 games or more. He was named Arizona State Girls Basketball Coach of the Year 3 times and Section Coach of the Year 6 times.
Westlake Athletic Director Nick Ranallo who has also been incredible towards KOS over the years, had this to say, “Cory was a great asset to Westlake City Schools as both a middle school social studies teacher and head girls varsity basketball coach. He developed positive relationships with our students, staff, and community. He will continue to do so in his new role as the high school assistant principal next year. The athlete department is grateful for all he has done for our girls basketball program and we know he will do a fantastic job in his new role.”
Interested applicants can apply through https://www.applitrack.com/westlake/onlineapp/default.aspx . The job will be posted within the next 24 hours since Coach Rojeck was officially board approved last night as the new high school assistant principal. Westlake will begin the process of looking for his replacement once the position is posted.
On behalf of everyone at Kee On Sports, once again, congrats on the new role and thank you for all your help the past 3 years! Westlake Demon Girls Basketball is where KOS got it’s start way back in the Winter of 2018, and has had a special place in our heart ever since!
