Week 2 Northeast Ohio Football Top Five

What a week. Last weekend’s Northeast Ohio vs. America Showcase featured four of our top five teams, and all squads came away with convincing victories. There were impressive performances across the area, including crucial opening week victories by teams looking to make a run at state. Before Week 2 action kicks off, here’s a look at this week’s top five.

 

1. St. Edward Eagles (1-0, Last Week: 27-10 vs. Center Grove (IN), Previous Rank: 1)

The two-time defending Division I Champions kicked off the 2023 campaign with a convincing 27-10 win over Indiana power Center Grove in the Northeast Ohio vs. America Showcase. The Eagles’ defense was on fire as they sacked Duke commit Tyler Cherry seven times. Senior RB Josh Groudle led the way offensively with 72 yards and two touchdowns. St. Edward, #14 in the country according to MaxPreps, will return to the spotlight again on Sunday as they take on Good Counsel (MD), #21 according to MaxPreps, on ESPN at 1 pm.
