Upgrades Look Great at North Olmsted’s Hidden Gem Little Clague Park

Growing up in North Olmsted on Clague Road, it was easy to fall in love with Little Clague Park.  In fact for me, it was about a 45 second walk to get there.  I’m old enough to remember when it used to have a fenced in tennis court between the two baseball fields.  While the baseball fields are still there the rest of the park has undergone some serious upgrades over the years.

The most recent being brand new playground equipment located on the Northwest side of the park when you enter from Clague Rd. My hat is off to Tim Pincheck, Betsy Drenski, Dave Rahm, Chris Scarl and the entire Parks and Recs committee who did an amazing job with these upgrades!

As mentioned, this park will always hold a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my childhood and now getting to take my own children there is such a special feeling.  Thank you to my wonderful hometown city for making me proud once again!

Here is the full breakdown below and DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE FULL PHOTO GALLERY ON PAGE TWO.

Access to the park

A long parkway leads you into the parking lot playground.  Far from the street and very safe, also plenty of parking to be had.

Things to do

A full pavilion to have a picnic or party if you choose.  Call Betsy Drenski at the Rec Center to reserve.  Beautiful and safe new playground equipment, two baseball fields and a breathtaking walking trail around the park with plenty of shade.

Places for parents to sit

There are several spot for parents to sit in the shade where they will have a full view of their children playing.

Ground

Some rubber but mostly mulch.  As my loyal readers of this column know, I cannot stand the mulch but it must be 10x cheaper then soft rubber and easier to upkeep because 45 out of 50 parks each summer tend to have mulch over rubber.

Cleanliness

The playground is brand new and spotless.  Hard to keep clean under all those trees but I didn’t notice a trace of bird poop, it really was nice.

Bathroom

Indoor plumbing!

Best part of the park

A mixture of new with tradition.  The park we know and love with a touch of new to remind everyone just how special our little gem is.

Would I recommend?

Absolutely!
