Defense and turnovers were the story of this game and it started from the very beginning. Fairview began the game on a 8-0 run and forced a turnover on each of North Olmsted first four possessions. They never let up either as the Warriors jumped out to a 13-5 lead after one forcing nine turnovers in the frame.

The second quarter is where the Eagles began to settle in and relax on the offensive end. After a quick bucket by Fairview North Olmsted responded with a 7-0 run to tighten the game up and cut the lead to three. This would be as close as the Eagles would get as Fairview weathered the storm and responded with a 8-0 run of their own and the lead was back to 11.

Both teams would go back and forth to end the quarter and they headed to the locker rooms with Fairview leading 33-20. Collin Lucas and Will Allen were the stars of the first half as they combined for 18 points and were all over the place on defense.

The Fairview defense did not let up after the break either. Two steals and break away baskets capped off a 16-5 run to start the third and seemingly put the nail in the coffin. Dylon Susan for the Eagles was able to knock down a few triples to end the quarter, but the game was already out of reach as Lucas and Allen combined for 15 more and the score was 56-33 Warriors.

North Olmsted showed some fight in the final frame, but the Warriors were just too much. They were still in every passing lane and playing hard on the defensive end not wanting to give up anything easy even with a big lead.

Coach Ryan Berry said “ We struggled defensively to start the year. It has been a big focus for us the last couple weeks in practice and it is showing in games”

It is definitely showing as the defense led the way tonight. The time would expire, and the Fairview Warriors would take this one 71-46 over the North Olmsted Eagles.  The combination of Collin Lucas and Will Allen were spectacular tonight and a big reason the Warriors were able to run away with it. Allen led the way with 21 points and Lucas was just as good scoring 19 in a great win for the Warriors.
