Top Faction – The Inner Circle vs The Undisputed Era
Winner – AEW
Listen, I like The Undisputed ERA a lot, but at the end of the day The Inner Circle just brings too much to the table. They are excellent in the ring, hilarious outside of it and when you look at pedigree and past history alone, it isn’t even close.
Between the multiple World Championships of Chris Jericho and Jake Hager combined with the latter’s MMA presence, and there is not contest. Mix in Sammy G as the best young lightweight prospect in the business, and The Inner Circle has a long bright future ahead of them.
Secondary Champion
Winner – AEW
While the upside of Keith Lee as NXT North American Champion is through the roof, there is no disputing that the AEW TNT Title is currently held in higher regard. The reason being that the belt itself is held by the face of AEW in Cody Rhodes.
Now, I already know the argument you are itching to make, and that is that the NXT North American Belt has been around a lot longer, and that I understand. However, I bring it back to the performer currently holding the strap and the household name that is Cody Rhodes is too much to overlook at this point. If it was Lance Archer, then the nod would go to Lee.
Top Heel
Winner – NXT
Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole are not only the two best heels in NXT right now, but perhaps in the entire business. While Brodie Lee is entertaining, his recent loss at Double or Nothing hurts him in this category. Brian Cage just showed up and MJF is hated for all the wrong reasons.
Fans don’t love to boo MJF, they are genuinely indifferent to him because they simply don’t like the guy. I can see Wardlow being the face of the AEW Heel Division at some point, but right now they are on Big Man overload with Cage, Lee and Archer.
As for Jericho, when your getting cheered and the fans sing your walkout song, I don’t consider you a heel.
Cole and Lee can both go on the microphone and in the ring. The simple fact that they are both so good and I couldn’t just pick one as Top Heel, should tell you right there how much they define “the bad guys” of NXT.
