The North Ridgeville Rangers (4-2) baseball team beat the Perry Panthers (1-7) with an exciting 11-1 win.
NORTH RIDGEVILLE, OH – The game started out slowly with no scoring in the first and second innings. There were some nice plays from both teams on the field, though. North Ridgeville pitcher, Ryan Anderson was a key player throughout the game. At the top of the second inning, Anderson threw some amazing pitches resulting in three quick outs. The Panthers tried to get some momentum going but came up short going into the third inning.
When the Rangers took their positions on the field at the top of the third, the Panthers prepared up at home plate to bat. Sophomore for the Panthers, Roman Alessandro, hit a fly ball that the Rangers managed to miss resulting in a single. Alessandro was able to score after a bunt, putting Perry up on the board first.
The Rangers did not let that score intimidate them. At the bottom of the third, Rangers player Gavin Couch scored by putting North Ridgeville on the board for a tie game. The Rangers used that run to their advantage. Braden Harrison, player on the Rangers, hit a double that jumpstarted the lead for the team. Going into the fourth inning, the Rangers were up 3-1.
Not much excitement and action in the fourth or fifth innings, however there was another run scored by Rangers player, Carter Clark making it 4-1. Clark was able to take charge of the field, capitalizing on the no outs the Rangers had, and made a great play to secure the run.
The sixth inning is where things started to heat up for the Rangers. The Panthers were able to control the game a little bit by loading the bases right at the top of the inning. However, the Rangers shut them down and made the necessary plays to hold the Panthers to one point without allowing more runs to be scored. At the bottom of the inning, the Rangers scored back-to-back. The team loaded the bases and made some great hits to score.
Zach Poltorek and Braden Harrison, of the Rangers, both scored this inning. Harrison scored two points in total. Other notable scorers of the innings were Rangers players, Carter Clark, and Noah Haag. After the tremendous fight put up by the Panthers, it just was not enough to defeat the Rangers resulting in a loss of 10-1.
