Being involved in sports has taught me a lot about myself and that I have applied to my real life. It has given me the opportunity to meet so many people that I thought I would never have met. It taught me and others skills to take into our worklife like being on time and practicing to get better.
I really had the experience of playing sports during my senior year in high school. I was in a low place in my life, where Covid did a lot to my high school experience. I was looking for an activity to do to make friends and that is when I joined the football team. It was tough at first, but I got used to it and saw my strength go up really fast. My team did really well that year and I have taken a lot of what I learned into my post playing days.
This generation needs to take what we learned from sports and teach it for the next generation. We have to take it from the times we played during our little league days and not during travel. The reason so many kids are not playing sports is from things like travel sports where they charge many amounts to play. This is why people should help their community and pitch in money to provide the access the kids needs to play the games that they love. The teachers and coaches need to empathize with fun and to compete with all that they got. We also want to see the kids fit and strong so that they can have healthy habits when they get older. One of them is teamwork. Teamwork is when someone works with someone they are not familiar with. Sometimes on a team you have to work with different personalities and cooperate to get something done.
The world needs strong people and one way someone can get strong in their life is through sports. While sports have definitely changed over time, its benefits to kids can only be shown by what they do later in life.
