1989 at Pittsburgh 51-0
Reason – The biggest road win in Cleveland Browns history and it just happens to come week one at the enemy. It was Bud Carson’s first game as head coach of the Browns, and one of the last season openers for Chuck Knoll. The game is highlighted by 3 defensive touchdowns.
Sadly, this is when the express train would come off the rails for wins in the Steel City. In fact, since 1989 the Browns have only won twice in Pittsburgh. Once in 1999 and once on Sunday night football with a glorious performance by Tim Coach, William Green and the whole team in 2003!
Both of those came in disastrous seasons however that saw the teams go 2-14 and 5-11. Painfully enough, the losing to Pittsburgh doesn’t end there. Since 1991 the Browns have lost to the Steelers 14 times to close out their season both on the road and at home. Thankfully the 15th time wasn’t last Sunday, let’s pull together all the good karma we can, and not let it happen this Sunday either.
