The Avon Eagles Soar to a 55-7 victory over The Midview Middies.

The Avon Eagles look to keep their momentum going as they host the Midview Middies at Mark Wahlberg Stadium in a late-season Southwestern Conference showdown.

Eagles Running Back Jakorion Caffey saw the endzone with a 3 -yard touchdown run up the middle, which put the Eagles on the board at 7-0. Caffey has made the endzone his residence as this score was his 12th touchdown in three games…yes, that is not a typo 12th touchdown in THREE GAMES. Caffey finished the game with eight carries for 20 yards and a touchdown, but he wasn’t the only Eagle that found the endzone.

Avon proved tonight that it is not a one-person show, but instead, it is a total team effort on the offensive side of the ball. After a Midview failed fake punt, the Eagles took over in Middie territory. A few plays later, Eagles QB Sam DeTillio joined the touchdown party on the very next possession as he found Wideout Ethan Holbrook for a 23-yard touchdown ad the Eagles extended their lead 14-0.

The Eagles added another touchdown by Gavin Ehrhardt as he rumbled for seven yards extending the Eagle lead to 20-0 late in the first quarter. Slangin’ Sammy D. didn’t stop there as he found Holbrook again for a 35 yard TD pass making the score extending the Eagle lead 27-0.

DeTillio was an equal opportunity distributor. He found Cam Santee for a 27-yard dime making the score 34-0; DeTillio struck again, finding Ryan Ptacek for a 39-yard score, and the final act of the Sam DeTillio show was a 46-yard long ball to Ethan Holbrook.

The score at halftime was 48-0 Avon Eagles.

In the third quarter, Jay Holton rumbled into the endzone for the Eagles for their final score of the night, making it 55-7. The Middies finally found the endzone in the fourth quarter as Ethan Beitel punched it in for the 3-yard touchdown.

The Middies struggled offensively as QB Marc Reed fought not the stout Eagles Defense but the rain as he completed eight passes for 85 yards. He also ran for 53 yards on eight carries. Tim Henson ran for 23 yards on seven carries. Middies star wideout Connor Awad had 20 yards on two receptions.  Bryce Newton returned to the lineup, catching 4 balls for 45 yards.  Newton is a welcome addition back.
