The Strongsville Mustangs took the road to take on the Cleveland Heights Tigers in a girls’ lacrosse matchup. This contest was super high scoring, ultimately seeing the Mustangs come out on top due to an early stoppage, 10-6.
Junior Maya Parrott for the Mustangs was able to get things going with an early goal, making the score 1-0. Junior Sophie Adanitsch was then able to come right back down and score a goal of her own, giving the Mustangs an early 2-0 lead.
The Mustangs started the game super-fast and showed no signs of slowing down. Senior Allanah Hagen was able to extend the lead for the Mustangs with a goal of her own, making the score 3-0. It was all Strongsville to start, and Cleveland Heights had no answer. Junior Addie Owen-Kren was able to score one more time for the Mustangs as time expired, making the score 4-0 going into the second quarter.
Senior Marley Dedino-Sadler was able to end the scoring drought for the Tigers and get her team on the board. This made the score 4-1 at the 10:25 mark. However, Adanitsch was able to respond with her second goal of the game to make the score 5-1. It was still all Strongsville as they continued to play great defense.
Sophomore Amara Rodney was able to get her team back on track by scoring a goal to make the score 5-2 at the 5:54 mark. However, Junior Mia Gyure was able to score a goal of her own to make the score 6-2.
Both sides were exchanging goals, and this was a common theme to end the quarter. Rodney for the Tigers was able to score her second goal of the quarter to make the score 6-3. However, Hagen was able to score her second goal of the game to make the score 7-3 to end the quarter.
Dedino-Sadler was able to start things off strongly with a goal for the Tigers to make the score 7-4 early in the quarter. However, Hagen was able to respond and score her third goal of the game for the Mustangs to make the score 8-4 at the 9:34 mark. The Mustangs showed no signs of slowing down after their spectacular scoring second quarter.
Senior Karis Wilson was able to respond for the Tigers after Hagens’ goal to tighten the score 8-5 at the 8:10 mark. However, Adanitsch was able to come right back and score her third goal of the game to extend the lead to 9-5 at the 7:32 mark. The game was very back and forth, and many goals were scored.
Wilson was able to score her second goal of the game in hopes of a comeback for the Tigers. This made the score 9-6 at the 6:08 mark. Both teams were exchanging goals, however, Strongsville saw their own junior Adanitsch score her fourth goal of the game to extend the lead to 10-6 at the 3:57 mark.
Hagen was able to come right back and score her fourth goal of the game to make the score 11-6 late into the third quarter. However, Rodney was able to score her third goal of the game for the Tigers to make the score 11-7. The third quarter was super high scoring, and there were no signs of slowing down.
Hagen came right back to score her fifth goal of the game. Hagen was on fire, and the Tigers had no response for her. Hagen was absolutely having her way as she was able to score yet again, bringing her total goals to six, and making the score 13-7, ultimately ending the game due to inclement weather.
The player of the game for the Strongsville Mustangs was Allanah Hagen with six goals, and the player of the game for the Cleveland Heights Tigers was Amara Rodney with three goals.
