Strongsville beats Maple Heights 53-20 in Dominant Fashion

It was a battle of the Mustangs at Strongsville high school between Strongsville and Maple Heights tonight. It was Strongsville who had the upper hand in this contest, as they got out to a big lead early on and cruised to a 53-20 victory.

It was all Strongsville from the moment this game tipped off. Strongsville got out to an early 13-0 lead behind 7 points from Kennedi Neal and 6 points from freshman Sidney Butera. The lead grew to 17-2 by the end of the first quarter.

Butera added 12 more points in the second quarter and led all scorers with 18 points in the first half. With time expiring in the second quarter Sydney Bass knocked down a three pointer to increase Strongsville’s lead to 38-6.

It was more of the same from Strongsville in the third quarter. One highlight from the third quarter included an impressive spin move and layup from Sidney Butera that wowed the crowd. Strongsville led 47-11 going into the fourth quarter.

Brooklyn Dillard did provide a bit of a spark for Maple Heights in the second half, scoring 11 points. Strongsville would maintain a huge lead throughout this game, winning by a final score of 53-20. Butera finished her incredibly impressive night with 23 points to lead all scorers.

Strongsville head coach Madyson Farnbauch said after the game that Butera,  “is one of the most impressive freshman she has seen”. She added “it’s not even just her performance; it’s her attitude, work ethic, dedication to the sport and the program as a whole for her.”
