St. Ignatius shuts out Euclid, 38-0

Parma, Ohio – The Saint Ignatius Wildcats shut out the visiting Euclid Panthers, 38-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Euclid won the toss, and elected to receive to start the game. However, the Panther offense went three and out, and a bad snap over the punter’s head led to a safety.

Junior Sean Martin added a 13-yard touchdown to give the Wildcats a 9-0 lead. After a short Panther punt, Steven Favazzo added a ground score of his own from a couple yards out to increase the lead to 16-0.

Euclid got a couple of turnovers, and their latest one got them started at the Ignatius 11. However, an interception from Greg Hanson thwarted those plans.

Later in the first quarter, Grant Washington broke off a 85-yard touchdown run to increase the Wildcat lead to 23-0.

After a scoreless second quarter, James Collins connected on a 34-yard field goal with 9:21 left in the third to increase the Wildcat lead to 26-0.

Less than a minute later, Joshua Papesh found senior Ryan Kennedy for a 32-yard touchdown reception. This triggered the running clock.

Michael Norman added a touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter for the final margin.

St. Ignatius (3-0) travels to undefeated Archbishop Hoban next Friday night.

Euclid (0-4) travels to Brunswick to open up Greater Cleveland Conference play next Friday.
