Beachwood, Ohio – Despite trailing by as much as nine points, the Beachwood Bison fought back, capturing a 70-65 win over visiting Perry in a Chagrin Valley Conference crossover.

Perry led, 17-14 after the first quarter. Brayden Richards had nine of his game high 28 in the stanza. Beachwood responded in the second quarter thanks to the efforts of Josh Jones. Jones had eight points and sank a pair of triples to keep the Bison in the game. These proved to be huge as Richards countered with six more points, helping the Pirates hold a 33-32 lead at the break.

In the third quarter, Josh Jones hit a layup to give the Bison the lead, 34-33. However, the Pirates went on a 10-0 run to take the lead, and pad it to 43-34. Beachwood responded with a 16-4 run for the remainder of the quarter.

Their run started with a Nathan Lurie layup to halt the Pirates’ run. After a timeout was called, Beachwood picked up the intensity on both ends of the court. On defense, they forced multiple Perry turnovers, and converted them into buckets on offense.

Thanks to a Josh Jones basket, the Bison took the lead, 46-45, with 2:33 left in the third, and increased it when Nathan Lurie cleaned up his own miss. By the time the quarter was over, Beachwood led 50-47. After a slow start in the first half, Lurie scored ten points in the third, helping catalyze the comeback efforts.

With the score tied at 59, Nathan Lurie drilled a triple with 3:31 left to give the Bison the lead. From there, every time Perry would get a bucket, Beachwood responded with one of their own.

Brayden Richards scored late to cut the Pirate deficit to 67-65. Beachwood responded when Nathan Lurie found Noah Page for a layup to bump the lead to 69-65. Lurie would split a pair of free throws for the final margin.
