Saint Ignatius Defeats John Marshall, 60-0

The Saint Ignatius Varsity football team dominated in the first varsity football game at Wasmer Field since 2023 with a score of 60-0 against John Marshall. 

 

The 50th meeting between the two schools made for a historic game. Coming off of a 31-24 loss against Walsh Jesuit, the Wildcats needed a win. 

 

In the first quarter, running back JT Hummer and wide receiver Trey Haddad each scored a touchdown of 47 yards and 63 yards, respectively. A safety was also scored, setting the score at 16-0. 

 

Further into the first half, Hummer scored another touchdown, giving him 79 yards and two touchdowns on three carries. 

 

As the Wildcats continued to coast down the field in well-executed offensive plays, the first quarter ended with a decisive score of 37-0. It was undeniable that the Wildcats offense was the beast to beat.  

 

Trey Haddad scored a 63 yard touchdown from a free kick return, and Dane Donovan scored a touchdown on 2 carries. 

 

Third-string quarterback Anthony Abruzzo had his moment to shine when he completed four passes over 46 yards for a touchdown. 

 

Marcello Rossman’s throw was intercepted by the Wildcats and returned for a pick-six. 

 

The Wildcats used this game to demonstrate their strong offensive tactics, teamwork, and roster depth. 

 

 

Players of the Game: 

 

Running Back JT Hummer of Saint Ignatius had 3 carries for 79 yards and two touchdowns.

 

Middle Linebacker Jamari Lewis of John Marshall had 3 carries for 17 yards.
