by Fairview Park, Ohio- The Rocky River Pirates won Friday night’s contest against the Fairview Warriors 35-7 on a beautiful northeast Ohio night.
Pirate’s Julian Patti went 8/10 and threw for 81-yards, nailed one passing touchdown, rushed for six points, and had one interception. Zach Wilson made 11 carries for 96-yards for the visiting team.
Rocky River, 2-4, got the jump on Fairview, 1-5, after a fumbled snap into the end-zone was recovered for the first score of the game, and an 11-yard drive from Cam Bulkowski doubled the score.
Rocky River’s Mack Massad went 2 for 2 through the uprights, rounding out the first quarter 14-0 for the Pirates.
Pirate’s Nick DiSalvo ran for a 64-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Zach Wilson ran the ball 47-yards, squaring quarterback Julian Patti up to send a cylinder to Stan Heuler for a 20-yard pass into the end-zone for the visitors.
Patti’s quarterback keep for a 1-yard touchdown extended the Pirate’s lead 37-0 with 1:26 remaining in the half.
The second half started with a running clock. Rocky River got the ball to start the second half. A steady stream of runs defined the second half for Rocky River. Fairview brought in freshman QB
Burke Lowry who had some ball control issues in his first drive on the field.
A drive seemingly destined to be more of the same, when on a 4th and 10 the Warriors would catch a break on a
facemask call.
The Warriors could not capitalize right away on the penalty, instead fumbling the ball at the 50 and recovering it there. Lowry hit Sal Rizzo for 30 yards to put Fairview on the
board 35-7. The final drive for the warriors was looking promising when Lowry fumbled the snap and the Pirates recovered. The Pirates ran down the clock to put this one in the W column for Rocky River
Rocky River will hit the road again next Friday to take on the Westlake Demons, who are 3-4 for the season.
Fairview will travel to face Bay.
