Lyndhurst, Ohio – The Spartans are headed back to the regionals.

Behind the strength of junior forward Priest Ryan’s 29 points, the Richmond Heights Spartans advanced to the regional semifinals with a 67-39 victory.

After a back and forth first quarter in which the Spartans led 14-12, Dalton took the lead for a brief moment, before Richmond Heights went on a 19-0 run spanning the first and second halves. This gave them a lead they would not relinquish.

“It was a big run for us because our energy picked up and we started playing more as a team. Once we separated the lead, it gave us more energy.” said Josiah Harris.

From there, the Spartans pulled away, thanks to the efforts of Priest Ryan, who scored 16 of his 29 points in the second half.

“The win means a lot to us because we had two guys out that were huge role players. Every game we have to go out there and play our hardest.” said Ryan.

Junior forward Josiah Harris had 16 points. Euclid transfer Jaiden Cox-Holloway pitched in with 11.

“We are very grateful to be at regionals right now due to all the circumstances with Covid. We’re not taking anything for granted and we’re ready to go out and play against all competition.” added Harris.

Richmond Heights improves to 15-4 and takes on Bristol in the Division IV regional semifinal at Akron Firestone High School next  Tuesday.

Dalton finishes its season at 19-5. They were led by Braylon Wegner, who had 12 points.
