I personally feel that Sting is the most overrated wrestler in WCW history. The guy couldn’t cut a promo to save his life, and in fact, the most popular time of his career came in 1997 when they didn’t let him talk for a year straight. I cannot think of a single memorable match he was in. His match with Hogan at Starrcade was a total flop.
Listen, I can’t argue with the guys popularity as he is easily the most popular wrestler in NWA / WCW history, slightly above Goldberg. I also can’t argue with the fact that he got every gimmick he was given over big time! Spiked hair Sting, wavy brown hair sting, creepy silent Crow like Sting, Red Face paint Sting. It didn’t matter the gimmick, fans loved it!
His matches were just okay, his promos were horrendous and seldom made any sense, and yet, the majority of fans will speak of his greatness. You figure it out because I can’t!
