Path to State Title Game For Avon Becomes Clear

While all eyes are focused on Avon’s matchup this weekend with #2 Seeded 13-0 Highland, it is only natural to wonder what would be next if they win.  A win I predicted earlier this week for Avon.

Per the OHSAA moments ago, their path to the state championship game, will once again go through a “possible” matchup with Hoban on Black Friday, if they could get by 13-0 Walsh Jesuit.  Avon will play the winner.

That, will be no easy task for Hoban however as Walsh Jesuit has looked like one of the top teams in the state all season long and is favored to win by many.

Long story short, they will play the winner of Hoban vs Walsh Jesuit on Black Friday.

Where that Black Friday game would be played, is anyone’s guess as most years prior to this, it has been played at either Brunswick (17,18) or Byers Field in Parma, (20,21,23).  However, Byers field is damaged and hasn’t hosted a single playoff game, and most likely won’t.

We will all know by late Friday Night what path the Eagles will need to soar to get to Canton.  Good luck to all schools involved.
