Local School Asked To Change Logo Over Racial Issue

The Berea-Midpark Logo will now be the next to be changed during this time of cultural awareness and sensitivity.  As some of you may already now, the design was created in 2013 to announce the merger of Berea and Midpark into one High School.

The fist is white, holding a lighting bolt.  Five fingers were chosen to pay tribute to the 50-year rivalry between the high schools before the merger.  The hand was then folded into fist and the logo was created.

However, it will no longer be used because of the likeness to White Power. The school has several other logo’s already in place, and will use those until a new one is unveiled in 2021.

Feel free to leave your suggestions for a new logo in the comment section below.

My honest opinion, change the fist to orange or blue and it is problem solved.  Time will tell…

  1. Change the colors if that offends people. I have said many times before we are a soft society with no backbone and we have to analyze everything.
